Seek Thermal Cameras: Nano, Compact and Phone Compatibility

“Seek thermal camera” covers different generations and connection types. A bargain attachment is only useful if the exact model works with your phone and current app. Identify the family and connector first, then compare resolution and field of view.

Separate Nano from the Compact family

Seek’s Nano range distinguishes iPhone Lightning, iPhone USB-C and Android USB-C configurations. The Compact support material covers a different family with its own compatibility and adapter guidance. Do not transfer a compatibility claim from one family to another.

On a used or marketplace listing, request a photograph of the model label and plug. Compare those with the manufacturer page rather than relying on the listing title. Include the phone’s operating-system version in your check, especially when the camera predates the phone.

Compare the picture you need to capture

Seek’s current Compact-series material includes a CompactPRO XR specification of 320 × 240 thermal pixels. Keep that figure attached to the exact named product; it should not become a specification for every Compact or Nano. Check whether the field of view lets you frame the intended target from an accessible position.

A narrower field of view can put more of a distant object in the image but make nearby broad surfaces harder to frame. A wider view can be convenient indoors but spreads detector pixels over a larger area. Compare at the same target distance and framing before interpreting resolution as a complete quality score.

Check the complete phone workflow

Confirm the supported app can save and share the files your task needs. Review whether temperature information remains available after export, rather than assuming a standard image file contains the same data as the app. Check physical clearance around the phone case and whether an adapter is explicitly supported.

For second-hand hardware, ask the seller to demonstrate connection and capture on a documented compatible phone. A working display photograph alone does not show that your phone, operating system and connector combination will work.

Make a decision you can verify

Record the camera SKU, phone model, OS version, app and expected export format on the order checklist. If one is unknown, resolve it before purchase. On arrival, capture and export a test scene, reconnect the camera and confirm the focus or framing works for your regular task.

Use our iPhone guide for Apple-specific options. If phone upgrades or shared staff use are a concern, compare a standalone handheld before choosing an attachment.
